Best Friends and Bibles

In the past few years, our church has begun a tradition of giving the gift of a Bible to the second grade students.  I remember thinking during the first Bible presentation, "It is going to be such a long time before London receives her Bible."  I was so wrong.  The years have flown by and today, Pastor Jerry and our Worship Director, Darla presented London's Bible to her.  To make this moment even more special, she did this with her best friend, Ella.

We started our day with a best friend photo shoot!

We had lots of fun and then made our way to church where Pastor Jerry made the official presentations.  (Miss Darla even had it arranged so London and Ella would stand next to one another.  There is no one in this world quite like Miss Darla!)

London is having a sleepover with Mommy tonight since Daddy is out of town until tomorrow.  I put her to bed and told her to get right to sleep since it was a late night.  I peeked in and caught her "sneaking" to read her Bible.

London's favorite verse is Isaiah 40:8 

"The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God endures forever."

Amen little girl!

Bill and I chose a verse to write in the cover of her Bible.  Okay, it was supposed to be one verse.  But the whole text was so rich that I just couldn't stop at one.  Here is our prayer for our little girl:

Ephesians 3:16-21 

"I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.  And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever!  Amen!"
